Why The Room?
. . . . Oct 28, 2009 . . . . Webster defines music as "An artistic form of auditory communication incorporating instrumental or vocal tones in a structured and continuous manner." That description doesn't define music to me. The third meaning listed makes more literal sense to me: "A musical diversion." Life, to me, is all about the little diversions that happen between breaths. We all remember what song was playing the first time we ever did anything. Who did we see at our first concert? What was the first song we ever sang? What music is playing behind the soundtrack to our lives? I think Music has saved my life on many occasions, whether it was on purpose or just by circumstance. Fear, pain, joy, remembrance, love and loss are all topics covered in the words and emotions of the music. Children learn from those around them. "Teach them well and let them lead the way" is a line from a cheesy song, but does convey a message that holds true. Teach them not just to play a song, but to understand the thought behind it. The lesson you can learn from a song may make a difficult topic more approachable. |

All Ages venues are few and far between. None before truly focused on the youngest members of the future Musical Artists community. When I first learned to play guitar and sing in a Band, there was no outlet for me to go and play. I truly believe that I was lucky that music found me before I found trouble. My school days seam so far behind me, yet I remember the days when all of my friends were bored and wanted me to go in the woods and "party" with them. At such a young age and bored, I did resist. But many others did not. It was a typical Saturday night. They all grew up and most are well adjusted productive members of society. Most...
You might have a particular view on music. It might mean something more or less to you than to others. But Music IS art. For me, Music is life. At the time I sit and write this, my daughter is 5. Her favorite music is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Disturbed. She knows what a Rock song is. She loves music. She sings Christmas songs like "Frosty the Snowman" as well as "I still haven't found what I am Looking for" by U2. She listens to music every night before bed. It is in her I have a new muse and reason for the goal I have set. What is the Goal? The future of music... Starts at The Room. Hand in hand the future musicians in our region need a place to gather. The bar scene is overcrowded with younger people trying to sneak in with fake ID's and the desire to escape their own lives. You don't need to escape that way. Music has been my sanctuary for so many years and I want to help shape the future of music in our area. The Room is hear .... The Room is here for that. As always: "Support Local Music... Or it stays that way." New Diamond Entertainment Supporting Local Music since 1991 The Room / 3 Production Drive Unit 3 / Brookfield CT 06804 The Room is an All Ages venue.
